Denim Treatment and Wash Guide
What is raw denim?
Raw denim is denim in its purest form. No pre-washing, no artificial fading, no shortcuts. Just fabric straight from the loom, deep indigo, structured, and ready to evolve with you.
Why it matters:
- Personal wear pattern: Every crease, fade, and mark reflects how you move. No two pairs end up the same.
- Built to last: The untreated fabric keeps its strength longer and ages with character instead of breaking down.
How to take care of it
Raw denim will bleed color in the beginning, that’s part of the process. Indigo may transfer onto lighter surfaces, especially early on. Be mindful around white garments, sneakers, and furniture until the first washes settle the dye.
Less washing. Better results.
Denim doesn’t need constant washing. In fact, the less you wash, the better it looks.
Instead, try:
- Letting it air out overnight
- Hanging it in a steamy bathroom
- Freezing it for a day or two to neutralize odor
- Simple habits that extend the life and preserve the look.
When it's time to wash
Hand washing is the safest way to keep the structure and color intact.
Do this:
- Turn the jeans inside out
- Use cold water and a small amount of mild detergent
- Let them soak — no aggressive scrubbing
- Rinse thoroughly
- Remove excess water gently (no twisting)
- Hang dry, away from direct sunlight
Expect slight fading, that’s part of the journey.
What sets it apart from other jeans?
Selvedge denim is made using traditional shuttle looms, creating a tightly woven fabric with clean, finished edges that won’t unravel.
You’ll usually spot it when you cuff the jeans, that signature edge is a mark of craftsmanship.
Why we use it:
- Stronger construction: A denser weave means more durability over time
- Refined detail: The finish is cleaner, sharper, and built with intention
Denim is better when it’s lived in.
Wear it hard. Wash it less. Let it tell your story.
