Guide for Washing and Using Denim Jeans
When you purchase your jeans from BLS Hafnia, we want them to last as long as possible. That’s why we’ve created this recommendation and guide on how to wash and care for your jeans to extend their lifespan.
Using Your Jeans
Due to the natural properties of denim fabric, jeans may transfer some dye and stain items such as white shoes. The darker the jeans, the higher the likelihood of color transfer.
How to Wash Your Jeans
To prolong the life of your jeans, it’s best to wash them as rarely as possible. Especially if they’ve only been worn a few times, washing them might be unnecessary.
Instead, you can air them out outdoors or use a trick: place your jeans in a freezer bag and put them in the freezer for 24 hours. Afterward, they will feel like new.
If your jeans get stained, you can remove the spots with a damp cloth or a soft toothbrush using a small amount of cold water and mild soap.
When washing your jeans, turn them inside out. It is recommended to choose a gentle cycle on the washing machine or wash them by hand, using an eco-friendly detergent. To preserve the color as much as possible, use cold water and avoid shrinkage or fading.
For the first wash, we recommend washing your jeans separately or with similarly colored clothing, as jeans may transfer dye and stain other items during the wash.
Drying Your Jeans
Avoid using the dryer, as the heat can damage the denim fibers. Instead, lay the jeans flat to dry or hang them up in the shade. This helps maintain their shape and prevents the fabric from shrinking or twisting. Turn the jeans inside out during drying to protect the color and keep the pockets dry.
Repairing Your Jeans
If your jeans become damaged, you can either repair them yourself or take them to a tailor. Thanks to the unique characteristics of denim, repairs will extend the lifespan of your jeans while also reducing their environmental impact.
